Visa Requirements for EU and Non-EU Students

Residence Card for European Union (EU) Students

Registration Certificate for EU students (Cyprus Yellow Slip)

  1. Passport or ID – Please note that EU student-citizens may travel freely to Cyprus but are required to submit an Application for Issue of Registration Certificate to the Migration Department within four (4) months of their date of entry into the Republic of Cyprus. The applications are submitted to the Civil Registry and Migration Department where they are evaluated.
  2. Health Insurance – EU students are obliged by the Migration Department regulations to have health insurance coverage or alternatively the EU Hospitalization Card.

Entry Permit for Non-EU Students

All non-EU students, who apply to Intercollege, require an Entry Permit to enter Cyprus. Provided that the “Conditional Acceptance Letter” has been issued by the Admissions Office and all the required documents and payments have been received, the College will submit the student’s documents to the Migration Authorities and Ministry of Education for further approval.

Once the visa application is approved, the visa will be issued in Cyprus and the student will be informed accordingly. A copy of the visa will be sent to the student as this will be required for the student to travel.

Following the above and after a Conditional Acceptance Letter is issued, all non-EU students must submit the following to the Office of Admissions:

  1. €55 Application Fee (application will not be processed without this non-refundable fee).
  2. €150 Entry Permit and Student Visa Fee (visa application will not be processed without this non-refundable fee).
  3. Fees for the first academic year and not less than €4000.
  4. 4 passport size photos.
  5. Original attested copy of High School Leaving Certificate and mark sheets.
  6. Original attested English Language Certificate (Contact the Admissions Office to inform you further for the accepted certificates, as per the Ministry of Education’s regulations).
  7. Original attested passport copy (valid for at least two (2) years from the start of the semester to be enrolled).
  8. Original attested Police Clearance Certificate (6 months validity period).
  9. Original attested bank letter (6-month validity period) stating that the student’s sponsor has the financial ability to support his/her living, tuition and repatriation expenses. Sponsor may only be Father/ Mother/Self. In case of another Sponsor, please supply a Court Affidavit. The letter must also clearly state the relationship between Sponsor and student.
  10. Original attested bank statement (1-month validity) which clearly shows the minimum amount of the first year’s tuition fees in the sponsor’s account.
  11. Original attested blood test results for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C (4 months validity).
  12. Original attested chest X-ray report for Tuberculosis (4 months validity).
  13. Declaration of Intent, which will state that the student will not take, neither intent to take, any action and/or submit any application for political asylum in the Republic of Cyprus.

Students are required to have the aforementioned documents attested by the appropriate/relevant authorities in their home country. The attestation process differs between countries who have signed the Hague Convention of 1961 (Apostille) and those who have not. Please contact an Admissions Counsellor for instructions on how to attest documents in your country.

Attested documents must be in English. In cases where a translation is necessary, this must be done by an approved translator and attested by the relevant authorities in the applicant’s country.

All original documents, duly attested, must be sent to the College via post/DHL.

All non-EU students are obliged by Migration Department regulations to have health insurance coverage. This medical insurance must be renewed with each annual registration.

  1. Validity periods of the required documents start from the date of issuance. They must still be valid at the date of submission.
  2. Sponsor must be a close relative of the student, as stated in point 9 (see Required Documents and Payments for the Entry Permit).
  3. Payments can be done via a bank transfer or Flywire. Please note that the bank transfer must be done either by the student or the student’s sponsor account and not through companies or third persons.
  4. The Police Clearance Certificate as well as the Medical documents must be issued by a governmental authority (i.e. medical documents must be issued by Federal/public hospitals and not private hospitals or clinics.
  5. The responsible authority for visa evaluations is the Migration department hence we cannot guarantee the on-time issuance of your visa. In the event that your entry permit is issued late the Intercollege reserves the right to withhold from releasing it to you, as a late arrival affects the College’s academic procedures and regulations. Please note that, while a student visa application is being processed, you are not allowed to enter the Republic of Cyprus as a visitor or any other status. This is prohibited by Migration regulations and may result in your student visa application to be rejected.
