Purpose of the Programme

The purpose of the programme is to prepare students as properly qualified personnel with the necessary theoretical and practical skills to meet the growing challenges and demands of the industry in the field of Mechanical Installations Technician.

As a graduate of the programme, you will know and perform the various technical tasks required in the field of mechanical installations (hydraulics, refrigeration, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, etc.) while you will also acquire all the fundamentals that will be necessary for the further improvement of quality and the range of services offered in the sector.

Essentially, you will be the connecting link between the scientist, mechanical engineer or architect and the technical staff, while at the same time you will exercise the technical and organizational management of the engineering construction site.

Programme Profile

The ultimate purpose of this programme is to train qualified personnel with the necessary theoretical and practical skills to meet the growing challenges and demands of the industry in the field of Mechanical Installations Technician.

As a graduate of the programme, you will know and perform the various technical tasks required in the field of mechanical installations (plumbing, refrigeration, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, etc.) while you will also acquire all the fundamentals that will be necessary for the further improvement of quality and the range of services offered in the field. Essentially, you will be the connecting link between the scientist, mechanical engineer or architect and the technical staff, while at the same time you will exercise the technical and organizational management of the engineering construction site.

The main objectives of the programme are:

  • Provide necessary academic knowledge in the field of Mechanical Installations.
  • Develop necessary skills required to improve the quality of practicing in Mechanical Installations Services.
  • Obtain necessary knowledge, methods, materials and equipment for design, installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical installations and mechanical systems.
  • Identify and solve problems related to the field of mechanical installations and mechanical systems.
  • Apply correct and effective health and safety knowledge to protect workers, the workplace and in general the working environment.
  • Gain experiences through the “Summer Internship” will be significantly helpful in the students’ future career and progress.

Requirements & Regulations

The minimum admission requirement to an undergraduate programme of study is a recognized High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or equivalent internationally recognized qualification(s). Students with a lower HSLC grade than 5/10 or 10/20 or equivalent depending on the grading system of the country issuing the HSLC, can be approved under certain conditions.

Course assessment usually comprises of a comprehensive final exam continuous assessment. Continuous assessment can include amongst others, mid-terms, projects (class participation)

Letter grades are calculated based on the weight of the final exam and the continuous assessment and the actual numerical marks obtained in these two assessment components. Based on the course grades the student’s semester grade point average (GPA) and cumulative point average (CPA) are calculated.
