Professional Wine Tasting Training for Culinary Arts Students

On December 16, 2024, a special wine-tasting event was held at the “Copernicus” amphitheatre of Intercollege, the largest gastronomic amphitheatre in Cyprus, under the instruction of renowned Cypriot winemaker Mr. Sophocles Vlassides. The presentation focused on the Cypriot vineyard and was part of the activities for the certified programs “Diploma in Culinary Arts” and “Bachelor in Culinary Arts Management,” which are conducted in Greek.

The event was a significant experience for the students, giving them the opportunity to expand their knowledge in the field of wine tasting, which is one of the core subjects of these programs. The practical training, combined with the theoretical demonstration, highlighted the importance of selecting the right wine to accompany each dish, contributing significantly to a complete dining experience.

Intercollege’s Culinary and Pastry Arts programs have gained high recognition in the Hotel and Food Service industries, offering students modern and practical education. The program facilities include well-equipped labs with modern equipment, ensuring students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge for their professional development.

Mr. Vlassides’ presence emphasized the critical role of specialization in wine tasting and sensory evaluation, laying the foundation for a comprehensive approach to advising on wine selection, which is an integral part of the overall gastronomic experience.
