Third-Year Culinary Arts Students from Intercollege Visit Aeroponics Mediterranean Ltd – Planty

As part of their ongoing exploration of innovative food production methods, the third-year students of the Culinary Arts Program at Intercollege visited Aeroponics Mediterranean Ltd and its horticultural production unit, Planty. The visit was an opportunity for students to gain insights into modern agricultural practices, particularly those suited to the Mediterranean climate and food culture.

In January 2020, Aeroponics Mediterranean Ltd launched the largest horticultural facilities and packaging factory in Cyprus. The state-of-the-art greenhouse spans 10,000 sqm, accompanied by an 850 sqm store and packaging facilities, all designed to supply the market with premium horticultural and hydroponic products. These include microgreens, herbs, and leafy vegetables.

During the visit, students learned how these premium products are cultivated and packaged to meet the demands of the local Cyprus market, while also positioning the company for exports to the EU, Middle East, Gulf countries, and Greece.

This educational experience allowed students to deepen their understanding of sustainable and innovative agricultural practices that are shaping the future of food production in the Mediterranean region. We extend our gratitude to Aeroponics Mediterranean Ltd for providing this valuable learning opportunity.
